Contraverse, Inc.

This Privacy Policy applies to your information we collect when you use our websites (including but not limited to contraverse.co and cinema.webflow.io) and any products and services that are available on or through our websites. Throughout this Privacy Policy we’ll refer to our website and other products and services collectively as “Services.”
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at contact@contraverse.co.
Information We Collect
We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so–for example, to provide our Services, to communicate with you, or to make our Services better. We destroy your data as soon as it's not longer needed for the purposes you agreed to when you provided it.
We collect information in three ways: if and when you provide information to us, automatically through operating our services, and from outside sources.
Information You Provide to Us
The amount and type of information depends on the context and how we use the information. Here are some examples:
- Registration Information: We ask for basic information from you in order to set up your account - for example, your name, phone number and email address.
- Transaction and Billing Information: If you buy something from us, you will provide additional personal and payment information that is required to process the transaction and your payment, such as your name, credit card information, and contact information. We process this data, but it is stored with a compliant 3rd party.
- Content Information: In connection with using the Services, you may generate content that provides us with additional information about you.
- Credentials: In connection with using the Services, you may provide us with credentials for your website (like SSH, FTP, and SFTP username and password).
- Communications with Us: You may also provide us information when you respond to surveys or communicate with us about a support question.
Information We Collect Automatically
We also collect some information automatically:
- Log Information:
Like most online service providers, we collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information. We collect log information when you use our Services. - Usage Information:
We collect information about your usage of our Services. For example, we collect information about the actions that site administrators and users perform on a site–in other words, who did what, when and to what thing on a site (e.g., [username] deleted “[content]” at [time/date]). We also collect information about what happens when you use our Services along with information about your device (e.g., mobile screen size, name of cellular network, and mobile device manufacturer). We use this information to, for example, provide our Services to you, as well as get insights on how people use our Services, so we can make our Services better. - Location Information:
We may determine the approximate location of your device from your IP address. We collect and use this information to, for example, calculate how many people visit our Services from certain geographic regions. We may also collect information about your precise location via our mobile apps (when, for example, you post a photograph with location information) if you allow us to do so through your mobile device operating system’s permissions. - Information from Cookies & Other Technologies:
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Pixel tags (also called web beacons) are small blocks of code placed on websites and e-mails. We use cookies and other technologies like pixel tags to help us identify and track visitors, usage, and access preferences for our Services.
Information We Collect from Other Sources
We may also get information about you from other sources. For example, if you connect your account to a third-party service provider, we may receive information from that service. The information we receive depends on which services you authorize and any options that are available. We may also get information from third party services about individuals who are not yet our users (…but we hope will be!), which we may use, for example, for marketing and advertising purposes.
How We Use Information
We use information about you as mentioned above and as follows:
- To provide our Services–for example, to set up and maintain your account, backup and restore your content, charge you for any of our paid Services, and provide you support for the Services;
- To further develop our Services–for example by adding new features that we think our users will enjoy or find useful;
- To monitor and analyze trends and better understand how users interact with our Services, which helps us improve our Services and make them easier to use;
- To monitor and protect the security of our Services, detect and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities, fight spam, and protect the rights and property of Contraverse and others; and
- To communicate with you about offers and promotions offered by Contraverse and others we think will be of interest to you, solicit your feedback, or keep you up to date on Contraverse and our products.

And if you send us a request (for example, via a support email or one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish that request in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users.
Why?
We need some minimal personal information, like name and email address, to create a Contraverse account for you. When you purchase a Contraverse subscription, we need some additional billing information to be able to process your order and create a valid invoice. We also run analytics on our website to find out how our users use Contraverse, and where they get stuck, so we know what to improve.
Besides system emails, we also send you updates and promotions on an infrequent basis. You can opt-out of these at any point by clicking the unsubscribe button which is part of the email.
Who?
Besides storing some data on our secured servers, Contraverse uses several external services to make things run smoothly.
These are the services we use, why we use them, and which data they handle:
Zencoder: Transcode video files
Amazon AWS: Store and serve uploaded files
Webflow: Store and serve uploaded files and content via the dashboard
Headjack: Manage uploaded files and content via iOS, Android, and VR apps.
MemberStack: Subscription & user profile management
Stripe: Process credit card payments
Google BigQuery: Store app analytics
Google Analytics: Website usage analytics
How long?
Most data is kept until you as a user decide to remove your account. Zencoder jobs and Amazon usage logs will only be kept around 60 days, after which they are automatically deleted.
Your rights
Your data is yours, and therefore you have total control over it. You can always access and edit your data through the Contraverse website.
If you no longer want us to process your data, you can ask us to delete your account and all related personal data, including data stored at external services.
If you want to obtain a copy of your personal data, or want to reuse it on different services, you can ask us to send you a data package.
We aim to process requests within one work week, and requests can be sent to contact@contraverse.co.
If you have a complaint about how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Opting Out of Electronic Communications
You may opt out of receiving promotional messages from us. Just follow the instructions in those messages. If you opt out of promotional messages, we may still send you other messages, like those about your account and legal notices.
Privacy Policy Changes
Although most changes are likely to be minor, Contraverse may change its Privacy Policy from time to time. Contraverse encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the change log below, and, in some cases, we may provide additional notice (such as adding a statement to our homepage or sending you a notification through e-mail or your dashboard). Your continued use of the Services after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your consent to such change.
